Geography Homework Unit 2

1. Define the three stages of economic activity. Give examples from your own country?

Production: the production of bananas and coffee.

Distribution: the exportation to Europe and USA of several of our products such as petroleum.

Consumption: the consumption of gas for our cars.

2. What is meant by a subsistence enonomy ? Are there still people in the word using this system?

Is an economy in which the people barely meet their everyday needs, yes there's still people like some farmers here in Ecuador that only consume what they produce.

3. How was money created ?

The first paper money was created in China.

4. Define Barter and Trade.

Barter: exchange of products for other products and services

Trade: the process of buying or exchanging products and services.

5. What is an economic system ?

An organized way in which a state or nation allocates its resources and apportions goods and services in the national community.

6. What is capitalism ? Check out the cartoon and the pyramid. Do you agree with it ? What is your opinion ?

Social system based on the principle of individual rights. The term capitalism is used here in the broader philosophical political sense, and free-market.
I do agree with that picture. In my opinion capitalism is hypocrital economic system, in which the employee is the one that makes all the hard work, but is the owner who recoves all the money from that employee.

Obviously no I dont like to be conquered, Im a democratic person. Today are already countries as U.S and many others that's still searching not specifically territories but searching for other kind of possessions.

Science first homework unit 2

UNIT NUMBER 2 organisms

First homework / what you already know?

1. What are the three vital funcions carried out by all living beings ?

-reproduction
-interaction
-nutrition

2. What are the organs and systems responsable for these functions in a human being ?

Systems / Organs

-Skeletal system / Bones, cartilage, tendons and ligaments.
-Muslcular system/ Skeletal muscles and smooth muscles throughout the body.
-Nervous system/ Brain, spinal cord and peripheral nerves
-Resoiratory system/ Nose, trachea and lungs
-digestive system/ Mouth, esophagus, stomach, small and large intestines
-Excretory system/Kidneys, ureters, bladder and urethra.
-Endocrine system/hypothalamus, pituitary, thyroid, pancreas and adrenal glands.
-reproductive system/ Female (top): ovaries, oviducts, uterus, vagina and mammary glands.
Male (bottom): testes, seminal vesicles and penis.

3. Put in order accordin to size the following words... cell, atom, molecule, tissue.
1)atom 2)molecule 3)cell 4)tissue

Now complete the statement...Cells consist of.....MOLECULES....which are made of.......ATOMS.....

Finally answer this question... Is a tissue bigger than a cell ? What is a tissue ?

Yes a tissue is bigger than a cell because it's made up of cells.

A tissue...is a group of cells from the same type.

Rocks and Minerals

To know the differences or to compare rocks and minerals we have first to know what each one means.

ROCKS: In geology, rock or stone is a naturally occurring solid aggregate of minerals and/or mineraloids.
The Earth's outer solid layer, the lithosphere, is made of rock. In general rocks are of three types, namely, igneous, sedimentary, and metamorphic.

IGNEOUS Igneous rock is formed through the cooling and solidification of magma or lava.

METAMORPHIC is the transformation of an existing rock type, the protolith, in a process called metamorphism, which means "change in form".

SEDIMENTARY is a type of rock that is formed by sedimentation of material at the Earth's surface and within bodies of water.

MINERALS: 1. A naturally occurring, homogeneous inorganic solid substance having a definite chemical composition and characteristic crystalline structure, color, and hardness.

DIFFERENCES:

CHARACTERISTICS OF MINERALS AND ROCKS

Minerals.

pure (made of same substance)

more than one mineral

some have crystals

not single crystals

usually pretty

not usually as pretty

usually have a shape

no definite shape

color is usually the same

color is not the same

no fossils

ROCKS

more than one mineral

some have crystals

not single crystals

not usually as pretty

usually have a shape

no definite shape

color is usually the same

color is not the same

Migration

The migration is the movement of humans beings around the world and are temporary or permanent. They are caused by different reason:
-Natural causes
-Social causes

There are 3 types of migration:
DURATION MIGRATION:

Temporary: when people return to their point of origin after some time.

Permanent: when people stay permanently in their destination.

Seasonal: limited duration depending on the seasons

CAUSE MIGRATION:

Forced: have taken place throughout history, for example slave migration

Free: usually represent people searching for better living conditions.

DISTANCE MIGRATION:

External and international: displacement from one country to another.

National: displacement inside a country.

6. the substance dissolved in a given solution.
9. produced under conditions involving intense heat, as rocks of volcanic origin or rocks crystallized from molten magma.
10. between the crust and the core
11. the inner layer of the earth
12. the crust is the outermost solid shell of a rocky planet

17. igneous volcanic rock formation in which hot magma from inside the Earth flows out
18. is liquid rock that forms under the surface of the earth
DOWN1. formed by the deposition of sediment, as certain rocks.
2. any remains, impression, or trace of a living thing of a former geologic age, as a skeleton, footprint, etc.
4. is a body of intrusive igneous rock (called a plutonic rock) that crystallized from magma slowly cooling below the surface of the Earth
5. formed by pressure and heat
7. the lithosphere includes the crust and the uppermost mantle, which constitute the hard and rigid outer layer of the Earth
8. the fall of rai, snow, hail...
13. having the power of dissolving; causing solution.
